FOR GEOLOGY, INDUSTRY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
SpectraLab is an academic spin-off of the University of Turin which offers a wide range of services in the advanced characterization of inorganic materials, through a multidisciplinary, multi-technique approach.
Our services include: chemical and mineralogical analysis of materials, characterization and synthesis of inorganic compounds, training courses, short-classes and workshops for schools and scientific consulting activities.
Laboratory services and research support in the geomaterial industry
SpectraLab brings together the know-how of researchers and specialists in different fields to develop scientific projects and offer expertise in each phase of the process.
We provide our customers with analysis, research and consulting services for environment sciences and for industries.
Our multidisciplinary team will guide you through different areas of consultancy and design, being a reference for companies and professionals.
We perform advanced characterization of natural geomaterials (minerals, rocks, precious and semiprecious stones), industrial materials (concrete, cement, mortar, plaster) and raw materials (natural or synthetic).
PETROGRAPHIC AND MINERALOGICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF ROCKS, SOILS AND CLAYS
ANALYSIS OF MINERALOGICAL SPECIES
Identification of mineralogical species, including new or rare phases.
We also perform investigations of surface properties, inclusions and defects of gems and semi-precious materials.
CHARACTERIZATION OF ORE AND MINING RESOURCES
Mineralogical and petrographic analysis of mineral resources for the definition of composition and properties of deposits.
MORPHOLOGICAL - STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS
Advanced microscopy service for the determination of morphological and structural-surface characteristics of organic and inorganic materials, from biological materials to nano-structured materials.
ANALYSIS OF BUILDING MATERIALS AND RAW MATERIALS
Mineralogical, chemical, and stratigraphic analyses of lime, cement, stucco, mortar, etc., raw materials and alteration products.
CHARACTERIZATION OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS
Characterization of inorganic industrial products (inorganic pigments and paints, ceramic materials, etc.) and processing waste, including ashes, fillers and aggregates. Characterization of multilayer materials, coatings, surface defects and impurities.
SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF INDUSTRIAL MATERIALS
Studies aimed at the synthesis and production of innovative inorganic materials of industrial interest.
We also perform analyses of the morphological-structural properties of materials through the acquisition of 2D and / or 3D topographic images and the study of crystal growth processes and surface mass transport phenomena. Creation of theoretical models and simulations to solve problems related to production, treatment of materials and related industrial applications.
SpectraLab is a scientific-technical group for consultancy in the characterization of materials, which also offers services in the field of scientific dissemination, education, event organization and museum services .
We offer scientific consulting services through fully-customizable services. We offer competence, quality and reliability for research development.
EVENTS AND CONFERENCES
We provide support for the organization of events and conferences in the Earth Sciences sector.
Thanks to the consolidated experience in scientific dissemination and publication, we are able to propose didactic activities for schools and associations, in order to involve and raise awareness on issues in the field of materials science, environmental protection, natural and cultural heritage.
TEACHING FOR SCHOOLS
TRAINING FOR COMPANIES
SpectraLab srl is an idea of a group of post-doc fellows and members of the Department of Earth Science of the University of Torino with complementary scientific competences and consolidated experiences in analytical and computational fields.
